OPTING into Blended Learning deadline 11/15/20

JUST RELEASED 11/2/20  Dear Families, We know this year has been unlike any other​, with families juggling many complex decisions through uncertain conditions. We recognize and appreciate your family’s flexibility and resilience, alongside all students, families, and school communities across the City. Now that school buildings have re-opened and COVID-19 infection rates have stayed markedly low citywide and in our schools, we know many of you are considering having your child return to school for in-person learning. If you previously chose full-time remote learning for your child, now is your chance to opt into blended learning for the remainder of the school year! By November 15, please opt into blended learning by completing the Learning Preference Survey Families who need additional assistance with the survey can call 311. Chancellors Meeting 8/12/20

  Please join Chancellor Richard A. Carranza on Wednesday, August 12th, at our Family and student information session on RE-OPENING . (click orange) The session will be held from 6:30 pm- 8:00 pm. DOE officials will answer questions on blended learning, curriculum, busing, and more.  This is a continuation of a four-part series, and the last session will be held on Thursday, August 27th. Timeline for Remote

  Timeline for Choosing Fully Remote Instruction July 15 – August 7 Families can begin opting in to full-time remote learning. During this window, families can opt back into in-person instruction if needed. Week of August 10  Families can continue to opt into remote only learning Send reports to schools indicating which students have opted into full-time remote learning Non-respondents should be programmed for in-person instruction (based on model school selects) September 2020  School begins for all student

Chancellors Reopening Plan 070820

While New York school districts await official guidance from the NYS Education Department on reopening, Mayor de Blasio announced earlier today that public schools in New York City will partially reopen in the fall. Families will have a choice on how they would like their child to learn this coming school year. Instruction will either be blended or fully remote. Blended learning is a mix of in-person and remote learning. Most students will attend school for 2-3 days a week in the fall. School schedules will be staggered. Determinations will be made on the size of the student population in schools and physical space. Principals will work on what that looks like during the next few weeks and will let parents know in August what days students will physically attend school. Students with disabilities: In-person services will be offered to students with IEPs who opt to receive them to the greatest extent possible.
